(While I do have a few more things to do before buttoning things up for the winter of 2007, we are closing enough for me to offer the "standard salutation". I don't intend to update this column until we start installations again in the spring of 2008--if we start installations again.)
Greetings! My name is Phil Farrand. I live two miles north of Crystal Cave and eight miles north of Springfield, Missouri. During the summer of 2006, I finally go tied enough of not having high-speed internet that I decided to do something about it. So, with the help of many generous friends, I built a 100 foot tower and the necessary Motorola Canopy equipment. I spent this last summer finding customers and doing installations. And thus, zarks.net was born. The business plan that I developed for zarks.net indicated that I could break even in three years with 25 customers. We have 25 customer and everything seems to be puttering along. (Although I am looking forward to the leaves dropping because it should improve the circumstances with a few of them.) Here's the situation: There's a possibility that I'm going to another and final set of 25 installations in the spring of 2008. (Motorola is very proud of its equipement and I have to buy the "subscriber units" in packs of 25 to get any kind of pricebreak.) I can't do the installations before spring because I have some projects that I have to finish in the next few months. So, if you are interested in high-speed internet and you live in the vicinity of farm roads 167 and 48 in Greene county, give me a call at 417 844 8244 and I will put you on the list. If we can find 25 more customers and I can find the time, we'll start up installations in the spring. Otherwise, I'll coast out with the customers that I have until "broadband over powerlines" or the new 700mhz technology comes along! |
